There Must be Hope for a Guy like This.....but we will have to hear a few of his new sermons before we declare him cured.

"I believe that humility is the great omission and failure in my eleven years of preaching. I believe that this is my greatest oversight both in my example and in my instruction."
Mark Driscoll,
pastor of Seattle's Mars Hill Church.

Hi Mr. Impossible :-)

It's been forever huh? Well, I stopped to see what you have been reflecting on lately and i saw this post. You know, I am glad you hope for him, because he is someone who causes me to despair about Christianity and the church :-/ I accidentally bought his book "Confessions of a Reformission Rev." and was horrified by much of what he wrote - it literally made me soooo angry at myself to be in the same faith tradition (if only by name and not by content) as him.

So my point: I'm glad you hope. You are good with hope...I sometimes struggle.

Hope all is well! :-)

HI Ms X

I am hoping that the new found humility expresed in the M.D. quote means that he is ready to hear the pain of people who have been exiled and scapegoated by our faith in the past. I hope the hurtful things you found in the book you read are a reflection of some of the things he seems to be repenting of in the statement I quoted.

I agree that that that is a slim hope but we only live by hope, faith and a lot of love.

much love to you and thanks for coming for a visit.

P.S.
i would have responded sooner but my family and I just got back from Florida and so have been out of the loop..again

many blessings
